Pan Macmillan has signed a six-figure deal with Kristin Hannah for The Women, her latest "devastating" novel.
Publishing director Trisha Jackson acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Rebecca Scherer and Andrea Cirillo at the Jane Rotrosen Agency in New York. The novel will be published in February 2024.
Hannah has sold over 25 million books, in 50 languages, globally according to the publisher, and is known for, among others, The Nightingale (Pan Macmillan) which was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick 2022 and is currently being adapted for screens.
The Women is a story of loss and "epic love". The publisher continued: "It is both an intimate portrait of a woman coming of age in a dangerous time and a story of a nation divided by war."
Jackson commented: "I have long been a passionate fan of Kristin’s powerful and compelling storytelling with strong female characters and a wonderful sense of place and atmosphere at the heart. The Women is an incredible story for which we have bestseller ambition with plans for a top-level campaign to support global publication in February 2024."
Hannah added: "Pan Macmillan’s support and enthusiasm for my work, especially The Women, is an author’s dream come true."
