Pan Macmillan is set to publish an “emotionally charged” memoir by the Grammy Award-winning artist Joanna “JoJo” Levesque to coincide with the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut album.
Publishing director Sara Cywinski acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in print, serial, digital and audio from Suzannah Ball at WME.
The memoir, Over the Influence, will be published in hardback and e-book on 19th September, along with the audiobook read by the author. It will be published by Hachette Books in the US.
The chart-topping, multi-platinum recording artist released the album JoJo in September 2004 after being signed to a major record label at 12 years old. “Leave (Get Out)” made her the youngest-ever solo artist to have a debut number one single in the US.
JoJo said: “I’m excited to announce that my book baby will be available in UK bookstores for my fans overseas. I can’t wait for you to have it in your hands and to hear your thoughts about what’s inside.”
Cywinski said: “Receiving Over the Influence was one of those moments that sparked excitement and intrigue for me and my colleagues. It’s a beautifully crafted and emotionally charged story, and it’s our privilege to publish it.”
