Parragon is publishing a UK edition of The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence, the first in a new series of children’s graphic novels by renowned comic book creator Stan Lee.
The book, with words by Stuart Moore and illustrations by Andie Tong, is the first title in ‘The Zodiac Legacy’ trilogy, based on the Chinese zodiac system. The story follows Steven, a Chinese-American teen who is drawn into a conspiracy surrounding 12 mystical pools of energy. Steven and several other teenagers are suddently given magical powers and then thrown into a global conspiracy.
Lee said: “It’s a book that I think children would love, but I think a guy 50, 60, 80, 100 years old would love – anybody who likes a great adventure story about things that are bigger and more imaginative than life itself.”
Parragon acquired the Convergence UK publishing rights from Disney Publishing Worldwide, who released the book in the US last year. The book is out now in paperback, priced at £7.99.
Nicola Deschamps, head of licensed pubishing at Parragon, said: “It is a tremendous privilege to work with Disney to bring the iconic work of Stan Lee to UK teen readers. Brimming with fast-paced chases, spectacular battles, and a fantastic cliffhanger that will leave readers desperate for the next adventure installment, The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence will introduce a new world of excitement to Stan Lee fans, superhero enthusiasts, and graphic-novel fans alike.”
Lee was the lead writer and editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics during the 1960s and 70s and helped create popular comic book heroes such as The Amazing Spider-Man, The X-Men and The Incredible Hulk.
Last year, his graphic memoir was published by Simon & Schuster UK.
