Pavilion has snapped up the debut book from actress and host of “The Happy Vagina” podcast, Mika Simmons.
Lucy Smith, commissioning editor, acquired world all language rights for The Happy Vagina: An entertaining, empowering guide to gynaecological and sexual wellbeing from Millie Hoskins of United Agents. It will publish 4th August 2022 and is one of the first books from Pavilion since HarperCollins acquired the imprint.
The synopsis says: “In a world where the vagina and the vulva are still, too frequently, considered taboo, The Happy Vagina aims to entertain, educate and empower. Regardless of background or experience, most people have found it challenging to talk about intimate health and pleasure at some stage in their lives. Mika Simmons, co-founder of the Lady Garden Foundation, rightly believes that this taboo is deeply problematic and can lead to a whole host of health issues. Her aim is to smash this stigma by shining a light on the unique and sometimes awkward facts and myths about gynaecological wellbeing, allowing a more open dialogue for all.”
Simmons said: “It’s an honour to have created this book full of empowering facts about women’s health and sexual wellness. More than an educational tool, it’s a fun guide that you can dip into for bite-size pieces of revolutionary information which will transform your relationship to your body. I am grateful to Pavilion and HarperCollins for supporting me to get this conversation out of the women’s health section and into the mainstream where it belongs.”
The publisher said: “Having seen the outstanding momentum Mika and her co-founders achieved with the Lady Garden Foundation and heard the incredible voices and stories presented on ’The Happy Vagina’ podcast, Mika seemed the ideal person to write this timely and important book.”
