Penguin Life has landed The Art of Danish Living: How to Find Happiness In and Out of Work from "happiness expert" Meik Wiking.
Senior commissioning editor Amy McWalters acquired world rights directly from the author. The book will be published in September 2024 with rights sold in seven territories.
The Art of Danish Living is a "beautifully" illustrated book that reveals the "key ingredients of happiness at work"- purpose, trust and freedom.
McWalters said: "It is such a joy to work with Meik and to see the positive impact that his books have on readers. He has now sold over two million copies of his beautiful books around the world and I think this is perhaps his most timely and essential book yet. When the rest of the working world is suffering with a burnout epidemic that shows no sign of slowing down, the Danes seem to have perfected the art of the work/life balance, so this book is full of simple nuggets of Meik’s Danish wisdom for readers to try out and hopefully feel a little bit happier."
Wiking added: "I’m very proud to be releasing my latest book with Penguin Life later this year. We spend so many hours at work — and people around the world report feeling unhappy at work — but I believe work can and should be a source of happiness, if we design it right. I hope that this book will help people to do exactly that."
