Penguin Life has scooped Reverend Kate Bottley’s “part-memoir, part-spiritual guide” Have a Little Faith: Life Lessons on Love, Death and How Lasagne Always Helps.
Commissioning Editor Amy McWalters bought world rights directly from Tracey MacLeod at KBJ Management. It will publish 14th September and tells the story of how Reverend Bottley fell into her job as a vicar, why she loves it, why religion isn’t perfect, how faith has helped her navigate life’s biggest ups and downs, and how readers can do the same.
McWalters said: “Kate is the wisest, kindest, and funniest author I’ve ever had the privilege of working with and I am over the moon that her brilliant book conveys each of those attributes in bucket loads.
"There is no one better placed to write about what faith looks like in a modern context and how feeling connected to something beyond us – whatever you choose to call it – can improve our wellbeing. Kate doesn’t claim to have all the answers, but I am convinced she does and I can’t wait for people to enjoy the warm glow of hope that emanates from this book.”
Bottley commented: “Through this book, you’ll find chapters on some of the big themes in life, from the obvious ones like love and death to the slightly less immediate, but equally challenging ones like success and loneliness. I’ve had my own struggles with all of them, and seen others struggle through them too, so I wanted to share what I’ve learned along the way in the hope that it might provide some guidance, comfort – and a giggle perhaps – when you need it most.”
