Penguin Life has snapped up the “ultimate” menopause health plan by gynaecologist Dr Mary Claire Haver.
Amy McWalters, commissioning editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to The Galveston Diet: Your Ultimate Menopause Health Plan from Rachel Berkowitz at PRH US. The book will be published on 12th January.
The publisher said: “Created by a menopausal obstetrics and gynaecologist specialist, this nutrition plan finally makes it possible for women in mid-life to take control of their health, manage their weight and tame their symptoms in the long-term. After suffering with extreme menopausal symptoms and discovering that there was no weight-management advice for women in mid-life, Dr Haver researched her own solutions, which now make up The Galveston Diet.”
These include fuel refocus, to alter the ratio of healthy fats, lean protein and quality carbohydrates to efficiently burn fat; intermittent fasting, where you eat within a flexible eight-hour eating window to draw energy from stored fat; and a focus on anti-inflammatory food, where you eat more foods like leafy greens, olive oil, berries, nuts and tomatoes.
McWalters said: “I never expected to be so passionate about publishing a diet book, but as soon as I read Dr Haver’s story and understood how women in mid-life have been left behind by the health industry, particularly when it comes to weight management, I knew this was something special. Dr Haver is such an inspiration and I’m so excited to share her life-changing plan with women who deserve the tools to take control of their health and feel like themselves again.”
Dr Haver added: “After our success in the US, and my enthusiastic following in the UK on my social media platforms, I am thrilled to share The Galveston Diet with every woman struggling with mid-life health changes who is looking to optimise her own nutrition so that she can live in a healthy, energetic body.”
