Penguin Michael Joseph has landed two further novels from Eve Chase, whose breakout novel The Glass House was a Richard & Judy Book Club pick.
Publishing director Maxine Hitchcock acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in two new novels from Lizzy Kremer at David Higham Associates, with the first book in the contract, The Midnight Hour – which takes the reader through 1990s Notting Hill, the boulevards of Paris and an English country house – coming this June.
Chase said: “I’m thrilled to have signed for a further two books with the stellar team at Penguin Michael Joseph, led by my brilliant editor Maxine Hitchcock. I feel exceptionally lucky to be published so creatively and determinedly and know my new novels couldn’t be in better hands.”
Hitchcock added: “We have been proud publishers of Eve since her debut Black Rabbit Hall ensnared us back in 2014. Her compelling and atmospheric novels take us inside the homes and hearts of big, complicated families whose pasts always intertwine so cleverly and unexpectedly with the present day. Eve is a master at evoking time and place and has earned so many fans along the way including so many of her peers. With The Midnight Hour, we know she will earn many more.”
