Penguin Michael Joseph has snapped up Let’s Cook, a cookbook by 13-year-old Buddy Oliver - Jamie Oliver’s son and the host of the YouTube cooking channel "Cooking Buddies".
Managing director Louise Moore bought world rights directly from Jamie Oliver Limited. The book will be published on 4th July 2024. Moreover, the young author’s new cooking show "Cooking Buddies" will premiere this summer on CBBC.
"The cookbook is aimed at young people and beginner cooks, to get stuck into easy, delicious, and fun recipes that will help readers gain confidence and independence in the kitchen," the synopsis says. "Buddy Oliver gained a foodie following from his popular YouTube channel ’Cooking Buddies’, amassing over seven million views in recent years where he showcases simple, tasty and nutritious recipes for young people and cooking novices to give cooking a go at home. Let’s Cook follows a similar theme with chapters titled ‘I <3 pasta’. ‘After school-bites’, ‘Skills for Life’ and ‘Breakfast & Brunch’; showcasing that there is something for every occasion that new cooks can try and feel confident in doing new things."
Buddy Oliver said: “I’m really excited for my cookbook to come out. It’s full of the things I love to cook and eat, and I’ve had so much fun planning what to include, cooking up the recipes and making sure they’re nice and easy to follow. None of them are fancy or hard to do – you’ll find things like easy breakfasts, meatballs, pizza and some sweet treats – I just hope people enjoy giving them a go."
Jamie Oliver added: “I’m super-proud of Buddy and the effort he’s put into making this book – he’s always enjoyed sharing how easy it is to give simple, tasty recipes a go, which is why his Cooking Buddies YouTube channel has been a success."
Moore said: “It comes as no surprise to us that Buddy has been inspired by life in a food-loving family. We know parents are always looking for ways to get their children excited about mealtimes, and his fun, simple, reliable recipes in Let’s Cook are an ideal way for kids to get started on their own cooking and eating adventures.”
