Penguin Michael Joseph has won a “closely fought” four-way auction for Danielle L Jensen’s The Bridge Kingdom series.
Senior commissioning editor Rebecca Hilsdon acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Sara Langham at David Higham Associates on behalf of Tamar Rydzinski at The Context Literary Agency.
The series includes The Bridge Kingdom, The Traitor Queen and The Inadequate Heir which will be published in paperback on 6th October, with a fourth book slated for publication next year.
The three books that are released this autumn were previously self-published by the author in 2019, 2020 and 2021 respectively. The fourth is new.
Described as “an enemies-to-lovers fantasy series which begins with Lara who falls in love with the king she has been sent to destroy”, the series has, according to the publisher, generated over 17 million views across TikTok and boasts over 150,000 reviews across Amazon and Goodreads.
Hilsdon said: “This series has exploded onto the fantasy TikTok scene and it’s easy to see why – there’s romance, betrayal and political intrigue all wrapped together in an edge-of-your-seat plot readers simply can’t put down. I’m so proud that PMJ will be publishing it in the UK next month.”
Jensen commented: “I’m incredibly excited to partner with PMJ to expand the readership of the Bridge Kingdom series and ensure Lara and Aren find a place in the hearts of fantasy romance readers across the world!”
