Penguin Press pre-empts study of 'confused' male desire

Penguin Press has pre-empted a title on male desire, called What Do Men Want? 

World rights in the book by philosopher and critic Nina Power were pre-empted by Helen Conford at Penguin Press from Karolina Sutton at Curtis Brown, to publish on the Allen Lane imprint in 2019.

Power’s new book argues that male desire in the 21st-century is "confused but, ultimately, capable of positive change". According to Penguin, by posing the question of what men want, or seem to want, it will examine "the multiple contradictions at the heart of male desire today and answer the questions: Just what exactly do men get out of being men these days? How much longer can men dictate the meaning of sex, power and love? And how can men and women work together to revalue what best preserves humanity?"

Power is a senior lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Roehampton and she is the author of One-Dimensional Woman (Zer0, 2009).
