Piatkus has secured The First Half, the “fascinating, inspiring and entertaining” memoir from Gabby Logan.
Zoe Bohm, non-fiction publisher, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Amanda Harris at YMU Books. Logan’s memoir will be published on 13th October 2022.
“Gabby Logan is a natural storyteller, and her memoir covers so many moments that her readers will connect with,” commented Harris. “This is the beginning of a long and successful writing career.”
The First Half is a story about family love and loss, presenting the important moments from Logan’s life and giving a rare insight into her personal life and background from family tragedy to romantic relationships and career high and lows. Piatkus described it as “funny and heart-wrenching".
“As a long-time fan and admirer of Gabby I was thrilled when her unique and honest memoir landed on my desk,” Bohm said. “Gabby candidly explores the moments in her life that have brought her to the place she is today. The lessons she’s taken from these turning points will inspire readers everywhere to see the shape of their own lives differently. In equal parts moving, insightful, entertaining and surprising, Gabby’s story has made such a huge impact on me, and I can’t wait for her to share it this autumn.”
Logan added: “I loved the process of writing the stories and moments that make up my memoir. So many of the turning points in my life could have led me down a very different path and I didn’t always make very good choices. Life is not perfect, despite what social media might have us believe, and I want my teenage children to know they can come back from disappointment and loss. Our family has had to overcome tragedy, but we have also shared some wonderful and often hilarious moments together. I hope the book will leave the reader feeling happy and hopeful but also empowered and motivated to follow their dream no matter what barriers they feel are in their way.”
