Piatkus scores ‘authoritative’ title from Chelsea Women’s football manager Emma Hayes

Piatkus has scored A Completely Different Game: My Leadership Playbook by Emma Hayes, manager of the Chelsea FC Women’s football team, with Michael Calvin. 

Editorial director Tom Asker acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Rory Scarfe at The Blair Partnership. A Completely Different Game will be published on 23rd July 2024 simultaneously with the US by PublicAffairs. 

Hayes’ “generous [and] authoritative” account of leadership, grounded in her 20 years spent coaching, shares her “hard-won lessons for leading a team to success on and off the field” and “lays bare the difficulties that came with managing a women’s sports team in an industry designed for and catered to men”. 

While coaching the Chelsea FC Women’s team, Hayes won 16 trophies with the club and was named the Best FIFA Women’s Coach in 2021 and 2023. She will join the US Women’s National Soccer team as its head coach after the 2023-24 Women’s Super League season and will lead the team at the Olympics 2024.
