Piatkus has bought two new books by Manchester-based author and former divorce lawyer, Caroline England.
The two-book deal includes a "dark" psychological thriller called Betray Her, centred around a toxic friendship and a destructive love triangle. It will publish in March 2019.
Publisher of Piatkus and Constable Fiction Anna Boatman bought world rights from Kate Johnson at MacKenzie Wolf.
Boatman said: "Caroline’s writing is utterly compulsive – I’ve always loved her books, but Betray Her was a standout for me: it stole my life for 48 hours! I can’t wait to share her amazing books with new readers."
England added: "I am delighted to join Piatkus and particularly thrilled to be working with Anna Boatman and her team. I’m so excited to start my journey with Betray Her and can’t wait to see it out next year."
Avon published The Wife’s Secret and My Husband’s Lies by England in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
