Penguin Michael Joseph (PMJ) has acquired All The Devils by Catelyn Wilson and one other book, a dark academia duology which combines horror and fantasy and which the publisher says will be perfect for fans of Netflix’s “Wednesday” and author Leigh Bardugo.
Editorial director Rebecca Hilsdon pre-empted world rights 24 hours after submission from Stevie Finegan at the Zeno Agency on behalf of Susan Velazquez at the JABberwocky Literary Agency. All The Devils will be published in hardback in September 2024 with the next instalment coming the year after.
The story follows Andy Emmerson who discovers that the death of her sister, Violet, has been covered up and Violet is not dead at all. In order to discover the truth she enrols at her sister’s old school – the prestigious Ravenwood Academy. On arrival Andy discovers a cryptic note from Violet and is soon thrust into a world of secret societies, ancient magic, demons and monsters. It isn’t long before she realises the price to bring her sister home is darker and more dangerous than she ever could have imagined.
Texas-based Wilson said: “I wrote All The Devils in hope that people all over the world would be able to explore Ravenswood and feel the unshakable bond between sisters. I am thrilled that a book so important to me has found a home with PMJ, and can’t wait to share Andy with readers everywhere.”
Hilsdon said: “All The Devils is an atmospheric novel that beautifully explores the relationship and love between two sisters. I found myself drawn into the unsettling world of Ravenswood and being introduced to monsters, magic and a gorgeous slow burn romance which readers of both fantasy and horror will fall in love with too.”
