DK has appointed Marleigh Price in the new role of acquisitions editor, responsible for narrative non-fiction in the publisher's Life division.
She will start on 11th October and report to Katie Cowan, publishing director for Life.
Price was previously at Trapeze, where she has been since Orion first launched the imprint in 2016. She has a strong reputation for building a diverse, robust and inspirational list, having acquired and published numerous Sunday Times bestsellers, including Redhanded by Suruthi Bala and Hannah Maguire, and Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. Her list at Trapeze also focused on amplifying voices and topics that have historically been underserved by the publishing industry, with titles including Mixed/Other by journalist Natalie Morris, White Tears/Brown Scars by Ruby Hamad and The Way We Survive by Catriona Morton.
Cowan said: “I am thrilled to welcome Marleigh to the DK Life team in this important role. Marleigh’s commissioning track record, expertise and skill in spotting new talent will be of huge benefit to us. I am really looking forward to working with her on shaping Life’s narrative publishing as we drive this next stage of our strategy.”
Price said: “It has been an absolute joy and a privilege working at Trapeze and Orion for the last five years, and I’ve loved every minute of it. Whilst it’s bittersweet to be leaving behind my brilliant colleagues, I’m so excited to be joining DK Life at a time of such innovation and growth for the company. DK has such a rich heritage of publishing brilliant books, and I can’t wait to be part of its future legacy in launching a diverse and broad-reaching narrative non-fiction list, publishing the very best authors writing today."
