Profile has snapped up Your Right to Protest: Understand it, Use it, written by human rights barrister and campaigner Christian Weaver.
Editorial director Louisa Dunnigan acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Nicola Chang at David Higham Associates, and the book will be edited by Profile Books assistant editor Zara Sehr Ashraf, and will be published on 29th August 2024.
"In his new book Your Right to Protest, Christian brings together everything you need to know about your rights when taking a stand. Whether you are marching on the streets or making your voice heard from your own front room, organising in your workplace or writing a letter to your MP, this essential guide equips you with your fundamental rights and the laws that protect you."
Dunnigan said: "We are thrilled to be publishing Christian again at Profile — since The Law in 60 Seconds [Profile Books], Christian’s work has changed the lives of countless people, both as a human rights barrister and as an author committed to making the law more accessible. It has been inspiring to watch as his campaigns have led to tangible change in the system, and I can think of no one better placed to write this powerful, timely handbook to your rights and legal protections as a protestor."
Weaver added: "In an era where dissenting voices are growing louder, challenging the status quo, it’s my honour to share my insights and knowledge in this pocket-sized book. Drawing from my journey as both a barrister and a campaigner, this book aspires to equip individuals — whether they’re writing letters to their MPs or leading grassroots movements — with a robust and practical understanding of their legal rights and protections when they stand up for their beliefs."
