Puffin has snaffled Greg the Sausage Roll: Egg-cellent Easter Adventure by Mark and Roxanne Hoyle, also known as LadBaby.
Puffin editorial director Olivia Edwards acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from James Munro at WME on behalf of Mark and Roxanne Hoyle. Illustrations were acquired by Edwards from Susan Penny at Bright on behalf of Gareth Conway.
LadBaby will donate 50p from every paperback copy sold via W H Smith in the UK to The Trussell Trust, up to 31st December 2024 to a maximum of £10,000.
The publisher said the story “expands the Greg the Sausage Roll universe by taking in another key seasonal moment as Greg and Gloria visit Easterland”.
The synopsis says: “It’s Easter morning and Greg is SO EGG-CITED for the fun to begin!
“But when the chocolate egg delivery doesn’t show up at the bakery, Greg and Gloria have to HOP to it – otherwise Easter will be ruined! Time to make their way to the most magical place on Earth – EASTERLAND! Can they find the Easter Bunny and make sure the chocolate eggs are delivered in time for the big Easter egg hunt?”
Edwards said: “At Puffin we are excited to be building our Greg the Sausage Roll programme further – we’ve already had huge brand success with this loveable, plucky little sausage roll and 2024 is set to be even more stratospheric!”
Mark and Roxanne Hoyle added: "Since our very first book back in 2021, we’ve been inundated with families wanting an Easter adventure. With our favourite heroes Greg and Gloria on the hunt for the Easter Bunny, we’ve captured the spirit and excitement of the Easter holidays, adventures, egg hunts, friendships and lots of chocolate. We can’t wait for readers to dive into the story and be catapulted into Easterland for the very first time! Hold onto your bonnet, it’s an Easter adventure you won’t want to miss!"
The Greg the Sausage Roll books have sold over 266,000 copies for £1.6m via Nielsen BookScan TCM. 2021’s Santa’s Little Helper was the bestselling on 122,000 copies.
