Quadrille has scooped Your Not Forever Home: Affordable, Elevated, Temporary Decor for Renters from journalist and influencer Katherine Ormerod.
Commissioning editor Sarah Thickett acquired world all-language rights from Abigail Bergstrom at Bergstrom Studio. The book will be published in May 2024.
In Your Not Forever Home, Ormerod address why many people are now renting for longer and offers assurance about how to approach landlords about alterations. The book also provides a range of projects, for multiple skill levels, from hanging temporary wallpaper, painting furniture to sewing French bistro curtains. It has been billed as "an indispensable companion on your journey towards transforming your home into a haven of tasteful sophistication".
Ormerod said: “I’m a 40-year-old mother of two, and due to a litany of relatable reasons, I’m still a tenant. There is still this sense that you aren’t a proper adult until you own, but these messages haven’t caught up with reality. A third of my generation will never own and only one in 10 houses in the UK are affordable for those on median wages. It’s beyond time for us to change the narrative and forge a new relationship with renting. With Your Not Forever Home, my aim is to inspire, empower and reassure every reader and give them the encouragement to make the very best of wherever it is they call home.”
Thickett added: “Katherine’s enthusiasm for rental home décor and her can-do attitude are infectious. And now, at time when renting continues to be the only viable option for so many of us, Your Not Forever Home gathers together Katherine’s invaluable advice and practical, stylish projects to help readers transform any temporary living space into somewhere they can be very proud to call home.”
