A “practical, actionable and personable guide to getting your finances in order” by TikToker Lisa Woodley, also known as the Mum Who Budgets, has gone to Quercus.
Katy Follain, non-fiction publisher, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Emily Sweet at ESA. Budget Happy will be published on 28th February 2023.
The publisher describes Budget Happy as “what we all need to face and manage the cost-of-living crisis".
Its synopsis continues: “By making the book accessible and fun, Woodley gives the word ’budget’ a total makeover: from restriction, doing without and only buying the cheapest of the cheap, to making smart decisions, planning your spending carefully and having plenty left over for treats.
“In Budget Happy, Woodley shares her personal journey to show how important the way we talk about and behave with money is. She explores how to put together a budget that is realistic for you and your family, and breaks down in detail the cash-stuffing method – the phenomenon that has taken TikTok by storm whereby you withdraw your spending money weekly or monthly and divvy it up into sections of a binder – to arm you with all the tools you need to get started. Lisa Woodley makes budgeting easy, empowering and essential.”
She said: “What started initially to help ease a few upcoming celebrations quickly evolved into a lifestyle overhaul. This method has changed my outlook regarding money, how I spend and most importantly for me, how I now save. I hope this book can help so many others build a better, healthier relationship with their finances."
Follain commented: “I’ve never met anyone so passionate and savvy when it comes to saving money. Lisa is unstoppable in her quest to make us all more accountable and in control of our finances, something we all need to be in this climate. And she does so in an enlightening, accessible and friendly way. Prepare to see Lisa everywhere plugging this fantastic book next year.”
