Quercus has acquired PS: I Hate You and one further untitled novel by author Lauren Connolly.
Editorial director Emma Capron acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Tawanna Sullivan at Penguin Random House in a pre-empt.
PS: I Hate You is set to be published in January 2025. The synopsis reads: "When Maddie Sanderson’s beloved brother dies just shy of 30 after a year-long battle with cancer, he leaves a final task for his sister: spread his ashes over eight destinations he never got to visit. Unfortunately, he assigned her a travel companion, and it’s the last person she wants to be vulnerable in front of."
Connolly said: "I am so excited to work with the team at Quercus to bring PS: I Hate You to an international audience. I love the beautiful books they put out in the world, and I am honoured to be one of their authors!"
Capron added: "I have fallen wholeheartedly in love with this book. I think I was crying from page one, which is always a good sign. It is the perfect homage to Cecelia Ahern’s PS I Love You [HarperCollins], for the enemies-to-lovers generation. Lauren strikes the perfect balance with laugh-out-loud moments and plenty of spice to break through the emotion."
