Quercus has struck a deal for two new novels from Linda Green, author of e-book bestseller While My Eyes Were Closed.
Kathryn Taussig, commissioning editor at Quercus, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to After I’ve Gone and one other novel from agent Anthony Goff of David Higham Associates.
The first, After I've Gone, will be published next year. It is pitched as an "emotional psychological drama", about a young woman, Jess, whose Facebook timeline skips forward 18 months to a point where family and friends are posting tributes to her following her death in an accident.
Green's While My Eyes Were Closed sold more than 300,000 copies across all formats, according to publishers, and remains Kindle’s sixth bestselling e-book of 2016 to date.
Taussig said: “Linda’s talent for writing well-rounded and sympathetic characters serves her well in a genre that relies entirely on a convincing, believable narrator. She’s a real star and we are immensely proud to publish her.”
Green said: “I’m delighted to be signing another two book deal with Quercus. The response from readers to While My Eyes Were Closed has been fantastic and I hope the next two novels will serve up a similar mix of emotional psychological drama.”
Quercus will publish After I’ve Gone summer 2016, and the next book the following year.
