Quercus has secured The Pulse Cure: The Revolutionary New Way to Balance and Optimise Health and Live Longer, the "first and only book that examines the scientific significance and the practical use of heart rate variability", from Dr Torkil Færø.
Publishing director Jane Sturrock acquired world English language rights from Mira Omdahl at Northern Stories. The book will be published in trade paperback, e-book and audio on 4th January 2024.
Already a "runaway Scandinavian bestseller", The Pulse Cure "offers a new way to measure and master your energy and stress levels to optimise your health, happiness and longevity".
Færø is a general practitioner and emergency physician, documentary filmmaker and photographer. He commented: "It has been a joy teaching the Norwegian people how to use wearables to gain control over our health. I am excited to show the English-speaking world how our pulse can guide us to a better stress balance and optimised performance. This is preventative medicine at its best: Easy and affordable for everyone for everyone."
Sturrock said: "I was immediately intrigued when The Pulse Cure landed in my inbox. It felt very timely given the growing trend for taking a personalised and proactive approach to tracking and managing health, as well as the boom in wearable tech from Fitbits and Garmins to WHOOP bands and Oura rings. Dr Torkil Færø has written the first and only book that explains the science and physiology behind what these wearables can tell you and what you can do to positively improve your overall health as a result."
