Quercus has snapped up Financial Joy: Banish Debt, Grow Your Money and Unlock Financial Freedom in 10 Weeks from Ken and Mary Okoroafor, founders of The Humble Penny and The Financial Joy Academy.
Commissioning editor Emily Arbis acquired world rights from Oscar Janson-Smith at Gleam Futures. The book will be published on 28th March 2024.
"Ken and Mary are two of the most decent, hard-working and intelligent people I’ve had the privilege of working with, and I am delighted that this book is happening," said Janson-Smith.
Ken and Mary Okoroafor founded The Humble Penny and The Financial Joy Academy to help others achieve financial independence after they did so at 34 years of age.
In Financial Joy they share their expertise in a 10-week financial plan which aims to build wealth while prioritising wellbeing and fun. It will contain interviews with people from different backgrounds, age groups and stages of their "money journey" alongside "practical" advice on how to take control of your finances and develop good money habits.
Ken and Mary Okoroafor commented: "We’re excited about the message of this book, which we believe will change the financial destinies of millions of households for the better. With so many people feeling stressed and overwhelmed when they think about their finances and the uncertain future, we decided to create this 10-week plan using our own lived experience to help others become debt free, learn to invest wisely and plan for financial freedom whilst putting their wellbeing and joy at the centre of their finances every day."
Arbis added: "Ken and Mary are an impressive duo, with both the lived experience of building wealth from the ground up, and a deep professional knowledge of personal finance. Their highly practical 10-week plan is exactly what people need right now – as the cost of living remains alarmingly high, their work is crucial for helping readers to feel in control of their money while still indulging in the little things which bring them happiness."
