Quercus strikes fresh two-book deal with Beth O'Leary
Beth O’Leary will publish two more books with Quercus, after signing a "significant" new deal with the publisher.
Publisher Cassie Browne bought UK and Commonwealth rights in O'Leary's third and fourth books from Tanera Simons at Darley Anderson.
No details of O'Leary's third or fourth novel have been shared, but her publishers have promised book three "sounds fantastic and her enormous fanbase will not be disappointed".
The new two-book deal follows O’Leary’s acclaimed debut novel The Flatshare, which was published by Quercus in 2019. It has sold over 100,000 copies in all editions to date, according to Quercus, and through Nielsen has shifted 11,725 in hardback and 3,635 in trade paperback to date. It has also sold into 32 languages, is in active development for TV and has just been announced as WH Smiths’ Fiction Book of the Year with an exclusive festive cover to be sold by the retailer.
Her second novel The Switch – about a grandmother and granddaughter who swap lives for two months – is due to be published in April 2020.

Beth is one of the most exciting new authors writing today and it’s been a thrill to publish her debut, The Flatshare, earlier this year. Emma Capron, acting editor while Browne is on parental leave, said: "Beth is a true talent.
