Quercus has triumphed in a nine-publisher bidding war for Bernie Collins’ How to Win a Grand Prix.
Publishing director Richard Milner bought world rights from David Luxton and Nick Walters at DLA. It will be published on 23rd May 2024.
“Formula 1 drivers are the public face of Grand Prix racing but behind every driver is a team of several hundred people sharing the same passionate desire to win,” the publisher teased. “On race day it’s the team strategist who calls the shots, working under immense pressure to make split-second and crucial decisions.
“As a performance engineer at McLaren Racing and head of race strategy at Force India/Racing Point/Aston Martin F1, Bernie Collins has worked with international stars including Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel. In her book, Collins takes readers behind the scenes of an F1 team — both in the factory and at the races — to uncover what it takes to put two Formula 1 cars on the track and go racing.”
Milner said: “Bernie wears her incredible depth of experience and knowledge of elite motorsport impressively lightly. Reading her riveting book will make you watch F1 through enlightened eyes.”
Collins, a Formula One strategy analyst for Sky Sports and F1TV, said: “Working through this book has allowed me to share the work that a team contributes behind the scenes to every race win and finishing position. An insight into the focus that is needed for teams and drivers to succeed.”
