Quiller signs wild farming book by activist Page

Quiller has signed a book by farmer and political activist Robin Page, promising to “take the lid off what is happening in the countryside today”.

Managing director Andrew Johnston acquired world rights direct from the author for Wild Farming: The Challenge of Re-Wilding for Food and Wildlife, to be published in May 2020.

"As founder of the wildlife-friendly Countryside Restoration Trust, the author is convinced that Britain’s wildlife can be saved and nurtured whilst continuing the production of high-quality food. He controversially addresses the concerns about re-wilding and climate change alongside solutions for bringing back wildlife, without diminishing the importance of these issues," reads the synopsis. "This is a book about farming and wildlife, as well as the people who live and work on the land. It is about a rural cultural minority ignored in Britain, a country that ironically boasts of ‘inclusion’ and ‘diversity’, but which excludes and ignores those who they see as representing Britain’s rural past."

Johnston said: "We are very pleased to have secured this important contribution by Robin Page to the current debates on re-wilding and the preservation and restoration of the British countryside. Robin takes aim at those that he sees responsible for the crisis in the rural communities, from urban politicians and greedy landowners to, in his view, misguided conservationists and planners. This is very much a book of the moment which will greatly stimulate the discussion on both sides of the argument."
