Octopus imprint Radar has acquired Raise The Bar: How to Push Beyond Your Limits and Build a Stronger Future You by Ben Alldis of exercise company Peleton.
Briony Gowlett acquired world rights from Amy Newman at A3 Artists Agency and the book will be published in August 2023.
In Raise The Bar, one of Peloton’s first UK-based instructors, Ben Alldis, tackles mindset, motivation and fitness and shows readers the power of unlocking potential, taking control of their life and discovering and developing their talents, the publisher says.
The book is described as “a narrative motivational book, with practical take homes” and “focuses on lessons and advice about drive, setbacks, defying expectations, support systems and challenging accepted behaviours, all told through anecdotes and insight from Ben, who understands what it takes to set and achieve personal goals and motivates others daily to do the same.”
Alldis is a London-based fitness and health expert, who is currently working at Peloton as a cycle and strength instructor. The publisher says that “as a world class Peloton instructor, a NASM certified personal trainer, ITV fitness presenter, and experienced DJ, Ben is a unique hybrid of high-performance athlete, motivational coach and a live speaker,” adding that “as an educator and a coach Ben is on a mission to share his passion for fitness and health with as many people as he possibly can.”
Gowlett said of the acquisition: “Ben approaches everything he does with infectious passion, a bright outlook, and, most importantly, a wealth of knowledge. This book will nudge readers to follow their true ambitions, realise their unique strengths, and embrace and learn from challenges. Raise The Bar is full of smart and strategic steps to help build a stronger, healthier and more purposeful you.”
Alldis commented: “Having spent many years in the fitness industry helping hundreds of thousands of people on their health and fitness journeys, I wanted to write this book to provide readers with a toolkit to take things to the next level. Raising the bar is all about self-awareness and self-development – taking daily actions to build the best life possible for yourself, both physically and mentally, and embracing that you are going to make some wrong turns along the way but often it’s those wrong turns that provide you with the skills that become invaluable down the line. I am by no means a finished product, but I hope by sharing my story so far and the important lessons I have learned, I can inspire others to live life to the fullest and raise the bar for themselves.”
