Octopus imprint Radar has acquired The Very Best of Fesshole by Rob Manuel, a collection of anonymous confessions from his viral Twitter account @Fesshole, which the publisher said “allows people to anonymously confess their innermost thoughts, deepest, darkest secrets, and most outrageously funny faux pas”.
Briony Gowlett, Radar publisher, acquired UK & Commonwealth rights to two books from Antony Topping at Greene & Heaton.
The first, The Very Best of Fesshole, combines the viral confessions to date with previously unseen entries held back for the book. It will be published on 27th October.
Gowlett said: “I have loved Fesshole from its earliest days. Rob has hit on something that reveals the state of a nation through our secrets and we can’t get enough. I don’t know if the truth will set us free but this book will definitely raise a laugh (snort?), a grimace, or a painful cringe.”
As well as setting up Fesshole, Manuel is the co-founder of B3ta.com, a digital arts community launched in 2001. He has written for GQ, Wired and the Times.
He said: “I’m excited that we’re turning a stupid Twitter account (albeit one that’s got more followers than Simon Le Bon) into an actual book that strangers might pay money for. It’ll be an ideal gift for someone horrible in your family who only laughs at others’ misfortune.”
