Radar, part of the Octopus Publishing Group, has signed Real Talk: Lessons from Therapy for Healing & Living by psychotherapist Tasha Bailey.
Publisher Briony Gowlett acquired world all language rights from Elly James at HHB Agency for publication in September 2023.
According to the publisher, Real Talk brings therapy out of the therapy room and into the real world by making a therapist’s toolkit available to everyone, allowing readers to start the journey of healing their past experiences and cope with the challenges of modern life. Filled with techniques, lessons and wisdom that the reader might typically learn in therapy, Radar describes Real Talk as a “must-have handbook for optimising your mental health”.
Bailey is an accredited psychotherapist specialising in trauma, identity and creativity in therapy who uses Instagram to share her insights with those who can’t access therapy, helping people to reflect, recognise and take stock of their emotions. In September 2022 she was named Health & Wellness Influencer of the Year at the Blogosphere Awards.
Gowlett said of the acquisition: “Tasha is tireless in her work to make mental health and wellness talk feel relevant, real and inclusive. Her credentials as a therapist and content creator are first class and the Radar team are so happy to be joining her on her mission to reach and empower as many people as possible.”
Bailey commented: “I am beyond excited to be writing the book that I have been waiting to read all my life. A book that not only invites us to think about how our past shapes how we feel and who we become, but alongside flavours of intersectionality, playfulness and compassion.
“Becoming a therapist-turned-content creator came from noticing just how inaccessible therapy can be for so many people, especially those who may need it the most. My vision is for this book to take those people one step closer to healing through their past wounds in a gentle and inclusive way.
“I want concepts like attachment, shame and intergenerational trauma to be topics we can all talk about comfortably, because through real talk comes real healing and self-acceptance. And I am so proud to be on this journey with Briony and the phenomenal team at Radar and Octopus books.”
