A decade after its launch, a new edition of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls will be published with a forward from Melinda French Gates, and with stories about Taylor Swift and Greta Thunberg.
Rebel Girls and DK are launching a new edition of the global bestseller featuring 22 new stories written by author and Rebel Girls co-founder Elena Favilli. Gates, a philanthropist, has written a forward.
To be published on 4th March 2025, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls features a total of 110 stories of women who have led inspirational and extraordinary lives in countries around the world and features over 70 professions.
DK said: “Each story is written in the signature Rebel Girls storytelling style – a biographical, real-world fairytale, where women are the heroes changing the world.
“For Gen Alpha girls, the revised edition features hyper-relevant role models whose accomplishments all fall within the last decade; including global superstar Taylor Swift, activist Amika George, actress Michelle Yeoh, entrepreneur Melanie Perkins and world-class gymnast and breakdancer Grace ‘Sunny’ Choi."
Jes Wolfe, chief executive of Rebel Girls, said: “Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls created a new style of storytelling for girls and revolutionised children’s literature. Nearly 10 years on, Rebel Girls is proud to continue celebrating trailblazing women from the past to today.”
Mark Searle, managing director of DK Licensing, said: “This book has been championed by booksellers and beloved by readers worldwide since its initial publication. It’s a phenomenon that continues to draw new fans to the Rebel Girls range everywhere, and it’s a real honour to bring a refreshed edition of the book that started it all to the world, sharing inspiring stories with a new generation.”
As the leading and trusted voice in girl empowerment, Rebel Girls ignited a publishing movement when their seminal book Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls was first published in 2016, quickly becoming a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller.
The book is now published in more than 50 languages and found in over 110 countries. The original printing was funded through the crowdfunding website Kickstarter, and broke site records for fundraising for literature publication, raising over $1m (£747,000).
