Crime writer Lisa Regan has signed a six-book deal with digital publisher Bookouture.
Associate publisher Jessie Botterill signed world all language rights as well as audio, film and TV, in a deal directly with Regan, for a further six titles in the Josie Quinn crime series, bringing the total to 12.
The first in the series, Vanishing Girls, has sold over 150,000 copies and has been a bestseller in the US and UK Kindle charts, Bookouture said. The Hachette-owned company has just agreed a paperback deal with Grand Central Publishing in the US, to publish Vanishing Girls in the autumn of 2019.
Regan said: “Writing more books for Bookouture and being able to see Vanishing Girls in stores next year is a dream come true. No one works harder for their authors than them, and being a part of the Bookouture family has been the most fantastic and rewarding experience of my writing career – I am thrilled to pieces to continue working with them. Every single day I sit down to write with excitement and joy knowing that I have such an amazing and supportive team behind me and such a lovely, brilliant editor who always brings out the best in my abilities.”
Botterill said: “This series just goes from strength to strength, with a mind-blowing 100% increase in pre-orders from book to book. I can’t wait to see where this new deal will take us. In Josie Quinn, Lisa has given readers a character they truly believe in and root for all the way; it’s no surprise to me that they keep coming back for more.”
