Renard Press has acquired Hay Press, a Welsh indie publisher of commercial fiction and poetry, with Simon Mundy kept on as editor at large.
Hay Press will now become an imprint of Renard and move to the latter’s London address. Hay “will retain its special interest in music and Wales”, the publisher said. Founded in the mid-90s, Hay Press has previously been managed by Peter Burden and Mundy.
A relaunch list, scheduled for 2023, includes the début “genre-bending” novel from Prague-based writer Ewgeniya Lyras, Arthurian legend and Brexit allegory This Fragile Land by Mundy and a “guide to gentle productivity” from Anna Vaught titled The Alchemy.
Mundy commented: “Hay Press has been publishing for about two decades, in the hands of its authors. Now it passes to a new foster parent, Renard Press, which will be able to help it reach its full potential as an imprint.”
