Renard Press scoops Simon Mundy's 'acutely observed' novel

Renard Press has scooped Flagey in Winter, an "acutely observed" novel, from Simon Mundy and illustrated by Ewgeniya Lyras. 

Publisher Will Dady acquired world rights directly from the author. The novel will be published under the Hay Press imprint. 

Pitched as an "ode to Europe" and a "brilliantly observed comic novel for our times", Flagey in Winter is set in a café in Brussels in 2013 where artists, politicians, intellectuals and job-seekers mingle. 

Dady commented: "I’m delighted to have acquired Flagey in Winter for the new Hay Press list – in fact, it’s a sequel, in many ways, to one of the early Hay Press titles published long before we took it under our wing. This is the perfect antidote for the fractious and embittered times we find ourselves in, and a real ode to the mainland."
