Renegade has triumphed in a "hard fought" three-way auction for Sareeta Domingo’s "devastatingly romantic" and "insanely sexy" novel, Possibility.
Publisher Christina Demosthenous acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, including audio, from Lizzy Kremer at David Higham Associates. Publication is scheduled for May 2025.
"Possibility is a book about a woman who makes her dreams come true through more than wishful thinking—hard work and talent underlie all in this love and self-love story, just as it does for Sareeta and Christina, the dream team," said Kremer.
Possibility follows Anika Lapo who spends her 30th birthday in hospital awaiting surgery the next day. For the first time in years, Anika opens her diary and manifests that the surgery will save her life. After a successful operation, Anika continues to write in her diary every night about how the next day she’s going to nail the job interview, talk to her friends and connect with the man she has longed for, morning show radio host Cam Seidu. Everyday, Anika’s writings come true, but what if she was enough all along?
Demosthenous commented: "In Possibility, Sareeta has written a big-hearted novel that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since it first landed in my inbox. There is a love story here which is devastatingly romantic, breathlessly plotted and insanely sexy but, even more importantly, this is a book about how every great love story starts with ourselves. Sareeta interlaces a heart-stopping relationship with powerful, confronting, thought-provoking explorations about race, class, family, friendship and grief. This is a book about life in all of its glorious complexities, mistakes and fullness."
Domingo added: "Possibility has been a real labour of love. Exploring Anika’s romance with Cam, and the complexities of her progression from self-doubt to self-exploration (of all kinds!) to self-belief felt truly cathartic. But I’m all too aware that it’s one thing to write a book and another thing to bring it out into the world—and in Christina and the agenda-setting work of Renegade Books and Dialogue, I felt immediately certain that I’d found a publisher who fully understood my aims and supported my storytelling. I can’t wait for the possibilities ahead!"
