Rider Books has bagged The Gift by Dr Edith Eger, following on from the therapist’s global bestseller The Choice (Rider).
Publishing director Olivia Morris acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein, on behalf of Doug Abrams at Idea Architects. Rider will publish The Gift: 12 Lessons to Save Your Life as a hardback in September 2020.
The book follows on from the success of The Choice, Eger’s part-memoir, part-case study of her psychological work at her clinical practice in California. That book spent 20 weeks in the Sunday Times bestseller list and sold over 350,000 copies worldwide, the publisher said. In the UK alone it shifted158,227 copies across all editions through the TCM.
In The Gift, Eger, a Holocaust survivor and award-winning author, will offer “an inspirational and practical guide to healing” through her 12 lessons for life.
The publisher explained: “Edith’s life-advice has already gone viral online, and in this transformational book, each chapter will explore an imprisoning belief and a corresponding life lesson to help readers break free from the thoughts and behaviours holding them back."
Eger said: “Anything that happens to us is an opportunity to discover ourselves. Every person has the capacity to become free. My deepest hope is that The Gift will empower readers with the keys to liberate themselves from the concentration camp of their minds and embrace lives of joy, possibility, and freedom.”
Morris added: “Edith’s incredible journey of survival, escape and healing in The Choice has inspired thousands of people around the world. In The Gift she will reveal how to find this strength within ourselves. With the lived experience of Man’s Search for Meaning and the practical tools of Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway this book will empower readers for generations to come. The whole team at Ebury feel extremely privileged to be working with Edith again.”
