HarperCollins imprint 4th Estate will publish an investigation into innovation by science writer Matt Ridley.
The Genome author’s new book, How Innovation Works: Serendipity, Energy and the Saving of Time, focuses on the history and theory of innovation. It puts the development of new technologies by humans into the context of evolution by animals and plants.
4th Estate's head of non-fiction Louise Haines bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Felicity Bryan at Felicity Bryan Associates and will publish in spring 2020.
Ridley has sold 157,726 books for £1.48m through Nielsen BookScan, with Genome: The Autobiography of a Species in 23 Chapters (4th Estate) his bestseller, at 87,530 copies sold.
