Moon + Bird, an imprint of Watkins Media, has acquired Vote Wolf by Davide Cali, illustrated by Magali Clavelet. It is described as “a fresh take on favourite fairytale villain the Big Bad Wolf and filled with playful tongue-in-cheek references for caregivers to Animal Farm”.
Commissioning editor Brittany Willis acquired world English language rights from French publisher Casterman on behalf of Cali and Claveret. The publisher says the “hilarious” picture book “provides the perfect introduction to the ins and outs of the election process for young readers aged four to eight”.
It will be published on 28th October 2025, supported by a creative promotional plan that will include “Vote Wolf” campaign buttons and a bookshop, school and library activity pack that encourages young readers to create their own campaign plan, poster and slogan.

Willis said: “After several years of election news dominating media headlines, I’m thrilled to bring a book to the Moon + Bird list that introduces serious topics such as the voting system, media bias and conspiracy theorists in a fun, light-hearted manner for young readers… and I particularly love the unexpected, amusing ending (you’ll have to buy or request an early edition of the book to see what I mean).”
Head of Moon + Bird Laura Whitaker-Jones added: “I know so many parents on both sides of the Atlantic right now who are struggling to explain the ins and outs of the changing political and government landscape to their children, as well as the unreliability of the things they may see online, in an easily comprehensible and accessible way.
“This book is our answer to their struggle – and given that this book has been or is presently being translated into 10 other languages, our Moon + Bird team is proud to bring this brilliant picture book to the English language market.”
