Quiller Publishing has signed a fully revised and updated edition of sport and Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave’s classic guide to rowing.
The publisher acquired world rights to the book entitled Sir Steve Redgrave's Complete Guide to Rowing.
Redgrave's philosophy is that the basic principles and techniques of rowing are the same for beginners and elite athletes alike, and this underpins the teachings in the book. Starting with the basics of equipment and how to get started in the sport, Redgrave then moves on to more in-depth chapters on technique, tactics and competition.
The revised edition also focuses in detail on the physical and mental preparation needed to excel, with chapters on biomechanics, training and cross training, injury prevention, diet and nutrition, accompanied by insights into motivation and belief.
The text is illustrated throughout with line drawings and photographs, and enlivened by Redgrave’s own personal anecdotes and reflections.
Quiller m.d. Andrew Johnston said: "This is a book for rowers of all levels who want to learn from a legend. We’re delighted to be publishing such a classic text to help a new generation of rowers perform to the very best of their abilities."
Redgrave is the winner of nine World Championships, three Commonwealth Championships and the only athlete in history to have won gold medals in five consecutive Olympic Games in an endurance event. He was a founding member of the successful London 2012 Olympic bid, received the MBE in 1987, CBE in 1997 and was knighted in 2001. Since then, he has built a career involving various commercial and charitable relationships, and is chairman of the Henley Royal Regatta.
Quiller will publish in July 2018 in time for this year’s Henley Royal Regatta.
