A second volume of memoirs from journalist and literary critic Nicholas Lezard, titled It Gets Worse, will be published by independent Salt in August 2019. The book will be a paperback original in August 2019, priced £9.99.
It Gets Worse begins where Lezard’s first instalment of memoir, Bitter Experience Has Taught Me (Faber, 2013), ended. Salt said Lezard’s “bachelor existence makes a further descent into chaos, yet the misadventures are faced with sardonic wit, pathos and something like dissident wisdom.”
Salt editorial director Jen Hamilton-Emery said: “We are utterly thrilled to sign Nick. This lead title for 2019 will completely delight his devoted fans and increase his already substantial readership. He is the PG Wodehouse of squalor and calamity. We can’t wait to share it."
Salt acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights direct from the author.
