Constable has signed a two-book deal with pseudonymous debut crime fiction author N K Curran, who previously published Shadow of the Jaguar (Titan) under his real name, Steven Savile.

Krystyna Green, publishing director, acquired world rights from Camilla Shestopal at Shesto Literary. The first novel, I Know Who You Were, will be published in hardback April 2023, with I Know Where You Died coming after.

I Know Who You Were, a “dark and twisted" psychological thriller, asks: “how well do you really know the person closest to you?”

The synopsis reads: “Alex has been happily married to Morven for 15 years and they lead a very normal life—until one day it becomes most un-normal. On her way to the company conference, Morven vanishes; her car is found abandoned and concern mounts. Morven has ‘left’ her mobile at home and while initially thinking it a mistake, it becomes clear to Alex that she was leaving everything behind. And when in desperation he scrolls through her texts, he finds the message, ’I know who you were…’ and realises the woman he married has been living a lie.”

“I was blown away by the twists, untruths and sheer audacity of the writing,” Green said. “The story moves at a thrilling pace and ends with a totally unexpected, nail-biting denouement.”

Shestopal commented: “I was instantly grabbed by the unexpected twists in I Know Who You Were. The book has found a wonderful home with Constable.”

Savile added: “It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, I’m delighted…’ but the truth is more emotional than that, it feels like coming home. The response to the book from the team at Constable has been incredible. It’s humbling and gratifying. Every writer needs a champion, and N K Curran is lucky—he has got a whole team of them.”
