Children’s publisher Scallywag Press has picked up Jeff Norton's Dino Knights series.
The first Dino Knights book was originally published independently in 2019. Scallywag acquired world rights to three titles direct from the author at the virtual Bologna Book Fair and will re-edit and repackage the novel with a new cover and illustrations from Jeff Crosby. Publication is slated for 1st July 2021.
The series is aimed at readers aged seven plus and is set in a medieval land where dinosaurs still roam, but some have been tamed and live side-by-side with humans. The hero is orphan stable boy Henry Fairchild, who stops a vicious T-Rex from attacking his master, Lord Harding.
Publisher Sarah Pakenham said: "Jeff Norton has created an utterly compelling adventure series that combines two things that children adore—knights and dinosaurs, but more than that has crafted a poignant story about family, friendship and being your best self."
Norton, author of the Memoirs of a Neurotic Zombie series (Faber & Faber) and the MetaWars series (Orchard Books), said: "I’m thrilled that Scallywag Press has come aboard the Dino Knights adventure, turning these stories into beautiful books that will inspire school-aged readers with tales of bravery, chivalry and of course, dinosaurs.”
Dino Knights is currently in active development for television with with OmniFilm Entertainment and The Jim Henson Company, with Norton attached to executive produce.
