Sceptre is publishing The Art of the Good Life, a new non-fiction work on "clear thinking" by Swiss businessman and novelist Rolf Dobelli. The book will reveal 52 "mental shortcuts" for better decision-making in life, work and business.
Drummond Moir acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in the book, excluding Canada, for Sceptre from Sven Diedrich and Sarah Reinbacher at Piper, to publish in hardback and e-book on 2nd November.
The book will give advice on why flexibility can be a curse not a virtue, how to survive queuing, parking tickets and tax, why technology makes us less productive, and "the joys of mental accounting".
Sceptre published Dobelli’s previous non-fiction work, The Art of Thinking Clearly, in 2013. Originally published in Germany by Hanser, it was translated into 40 different languages and, according to Sceptre, it went on to sell over 2.5m copies worldwide. The book won the CMI Book of the Year Award and Sceptre’s Thinking Clearly app reached number one in eight countries.
