Scholastic UK will publish Happy Puppy, Happy Dog: How to Train your Best Friend, by dog trainer and the 2012 winner of "Britain’s Got Talent", Ashleigh Butler.
Leah James, executive editor, secured world rights all languages from Professor Jonathan Shalit at InterTalent. Publication is scheduled for October 2021.
Fully illustrated throughout and aimed at children aged seven plus, Happy Puppy, Happy Dog will include "everything that children need to care for and get the best out of their puppy such as puppy body language, basic training, easy tricks to enjoy with your puppy, tips on safe foods for puppies, a puppy training diary section and how to train and bond with older dogs".
Butler, who is a presenter on CBBC's "Who Let the Dogs Out" and "Super Famous Animals", said: "I am so excited to be working with Scholastic to produce this new book aimed at the younger generation of dog lovers. It's something that I'm very passionate about and with the new surge of dog owners I feel getting kids involved in dog training, general welfare and exercise is vital for the perfect family pet."
James commented: "As puppy sales have soared over lockdown, it’s more important now than ever that families are well equipped to understand, enjoy and care for their new additions – and there’s no one better placed to help than Ashleigh. We’re so thrilled to be publishing this brilliantly informative and fun book."
