Scholastic UK has bought a picture book about a bat that turned into a ‘superbat’ by graphic designer Matt Carr.
In the story, Pat the Bat puts together a costume that turns him into a Superbat. He is dismayed to find out that his friends also have super powers – they can fly and use echolocation to find their way in the dark – until he meets a family of mice who see him as a hero.
Scholastic bought the title in a two-book deal for world rights from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown, beating off six other publishers in a pre-empt.
Superbat will be published in March 2017.
