Scholastic UK has signed a new series of children’s books by TV personality Peter Andre, inspired by the bedtime stories he creates for his own children and described by the publisher as “fun picture book adventures full of humour, heart and aliens".
Elizabeth Scoggins, publisher for non-fiction, brands and licensing, acquired world all language rights to Andre’s text from Marie-Claire Giddings at The CAN Group and Katie Kear’s illustrations from Robyn Newton at The Bright Agency. Super Space Kids! Save Planet Drizzlebottom will be published in April 2023.
Scholastic says it is “an intergalactic adventure featuring characters named after his two children” with “bright, bold and funny illustrations by Katie Kear [that] will bring the stories to life".
The synopsis reads: “It’s just a normal, boring day at school for Millie and Theo – until a rocket arrives in the playground! Where will it take them and who will they meet? In this warm and joyful story, children will be swept away on supersonic adventures with messages of friendship, teamwork and understanding difference."
Andre said: “Reading bedtime stories together is a special experience that I treasure. It is a dream that I am now sharing stories I invented for my younger children, Millie and Theo. I have worked hard writing Super Space Kids to make it full of fun and themes that are important for all ages – like friendship, teamwork and acceptance. Katie Kear’s amazing artwork has made my intergalactic adventure come to life and I can’t wait for readers to blast off into space with me.”
Scoggins said: “It is a joy to be working with Peter Andre on new publishing for children. His warmth, positivity and imagination shines throughout Super Space Kids! Save Planet Drizzlebottom and we can’t wait for families to go on adventures with Millie and Theo.”
