Scott Mariani, author of the Ben Hope series, is moving to Hodder & Stoughton from HarperCollins with a new four-book deal. Commercial fiction publishing director Phoebe Morgan bought world all-language rights to four books, directly from the author. The first novel, The Pilgrim’s Revenge, will publish in June 2025 in paperback original, ebook and audio.
The first book, an adventure thriller set in 1190 follows heroic Will Bowman after his life is torn apart by crusaders as he seeks to get revenge on the soldiers who harmed his family.
Mariani said: “It’s a great thrill to be embarking on this historical adventure series with Hodder, a project that has been close to my heart for a long time. And I’m super excited to be working with Phoebe and the new team to make the Will Bowman stories a reality.”
Morgan said: “Scott Mariani has captured a huge audience with his brilliant Ben Hope novels, and his impressive career has gone from strength to strength. I’m pleased to be reunited with him and excited to be launching a brand new series, the Will Bowman thrillers, which marry Scott’s trademark fast-paced action with excellent historical detail.”
Hodder will publish three subsequent books in the Will Bowman series, taking the publishing with Mariani up to 2026. Scott Mariani is the author of more than 30 books in the popular Ben Hope series, and has previously been published by Avon and HarperNorth.
