Scribe has signed Eloise Rickman’s "ground-breaking" book, It’s Not Fair: Why It’s Time for a Grown-Up Conversation About How Adults Treat Children.
Publisher Molly Slight acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Carrie Plitt at Felicity Bryan Associates. Publication on 19th June will be supported by a "major" publicity and marketing campaign and a book launch at Waterstones Trafalgar.
Plitt said: "Eloise’s book has made me see the world with new eyes, and convinced me that the fight for children’s rights is all of our fight. It will be useful to parents and non-parents alike, and will shift the conversation we have around children, which desperately needs an update."
Rickman draws on studies, philosophy and children’s rights to put forward a "compelling case for children’s liberation rooted in a positive vision of children as capable, competent people... this powerful new book signals the start of a long overdue conversation about how we treat children".
Slight commented: "We are delighted to be publishing a second book by Eloise Rickman. Her first book, Extraordinary Parenting, challenged parents to think beyond societal norms to what is best for children and It’s Not Fair continues this work, opening our eyes to how children are seen and treated in society versus what is actually best for them. It is essential reading for parents, educators, and anyone who wants to live in a fairer world."
