Second Cannon to Borough Press in six figure deal

The Borough Press is to publish the second novel by Joanna Cannon, author of bestselling The Trouble with Goats and Sheep, after acquiring rights in a six-figure deal.

Suzie Dooré, publishing director at The Borough Press, bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Sue Armstrong at Conville & Walsh.

The as-yet-untitled novel will be published in June 2017 and is about "growing old, small acts of kindness, and how the echo each of us leaves in the world is louder than we might imagine".

TV rights for The Trouble with Goats and Sheep have been acquired by independent production company On The Corner, which has also recently optioned the Dark Iceland series by Ragnar Jónasson (Orenda Books).

Dooré said: “I was lucky enough to arrive at The Borough Press just in time to see The Trouble with Goats and Sheep publish, and am overjoyed both that we will be publishing Jo’s next book and that I will get the chance to work closely with her on it. She’s a wonderful writer.”

Armstrong said: “It’s been wonderful to see the success of The Trouble with Goats and Sheep and the Borough Press team have been amazing throughout. So I’m delighted to have agreed a new deal for Joanna’s second novel – which sounds, and will no doubt be, amazing – with Borough.”
