London-based production company Second Generation has secured the dramatic rights to Ashley Hickson-Lovence’s debut novel The 392 (OWN IT!).
OWN IT! founder Crystal Mahey-Morgan, negotiated the agreement with Second Generation’s joint managing directors, Helen Monks Takhar and Danny Takhar, who will produce and adapt for TV. The deal was facilitated on behalf of Second Generation by Anthony Mestriner of Casarotto Ramsay Associates.
Praised by Queenie (Trapeze) author Candice Carty-Williams for its "startlingly sharp characterisation," The 392 is set over 36 minutes on a London rush-hour bus, exploring what divides and unites a vivid cast of apparently unconnected passengers when a suspected terrorist boards, through a revelatory state-of-the-nation story.
OWN IT! acquired world all language print, audio and film and TV rights from Philippa Sitters at David Godwin Associates in January, before publishing the novel by former teacher Hickson-Lovence in April.
The 392 deal news follows the recent announcement that Second Generation’s husband and wife pair are to adapt and executive produce Monks Takhar’s debut novel, Precious You (HQ), after studio eOne secured worldwide rights to develop the novel for TV with UK production company Mam Tor Productions.
